The Iceberg

It is a great honour and privilege to be able to present this project on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Symbol

An Iceberg is majestic and fragile at the same time, but above all symbolises one of the most precious assets on earth: water ! The Blue Gold ! This water without which no life is possible, the drinking water which is becoming scarcer every day around the world.

Traveling Water

Rosette De Stefano's project consists in creating a monumental floating sculpture in the shape of an Iceberg measuring 50 m -100m long by 15 m high and floating in different cities around the world :Salvador de Bahia Venice, Monaco, London, Paris, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Dakar, Cape Town, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bombay, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and St Petersburg.

By making use of Art in its noblest expression, the artist wants to leave a mark and generate a long-term reflection concerning this very important issue. Regarding the cultural approach, we are convinced that the creation of a traveling exhibition at world level may yield great results through the different views that people have on the subject. Throughout Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, Oceania, Africa and Asia, human beings use and manage their water in very different ways. Many parameters, constraints and cultural habits influence the perception of water that each of us has. This is why, in order to give the project a concrete cultural dimension, we are very keen to realize this "Water Travel" on the various seas and oceans of our wonderful blue planet.
